GUITAR & AMP REPAIR

GUITAR & AMP REPAIR

Every day, a considerable part of my job is to answer questions and find solutions to fix something that is broken. Each guitar or amp is unique and so are its problems. Even common jobs differ slightly each time, which is what makes the work both challenging, and enjoyable.

I am happy to answer general questions you may have via email, which is the best way to reach me. I will usually respond within 24 hours, with the exception of weekends and holidays.

I do not share any of the information you choose to provide.

Guitar and Amp Repair Services

The first step in the repair process is reaching out with this contact form.

Please include the required information, along with any message you may like to share.

All communication outside of a scheduled intake and assessment, is done via email.

I may also include a PDF of repair intake and assessment policy for scheduled appointments. Please check your junk mail folder as email attachments may cause my reply to be flagged as spam.

Perhaps the most important part of my repair work is the intake and assessment process. This is scheduled time to work with my client to understand what is wrong and what their hopes are for a solution.

For guitar repair work, I take detailed measurements of neck relief, string height, string gauge, then measure and evaluate the frets to identify any high frets and determine of they are loose, or just out of level.

I will also document any cosmetic issues with the guitar and make sure the owner is aware of any other areas of concern.

This process will conclude with a written estimate detailing what is needed and the price range (low/high) for what each process will cost.

Together we can find what works for you and the guitar or amplifier.

Scheduling Intake/Assessment:

Guitars: $60

This covers up to 30 minutes of consultation time and a written estimate which requires approval of the client. If less than 15 minutes is needed, part of the intake/assessment fee would be applied to the final billl.

Amps: $120

This bench fee allows the client to describe the issue to the best of their ability. Due to high voltages present in tube amplifiers, I cannot power on and assess the problem with the client present. If the solution is simple, this fee may very well cover the cost of labor. If the problem is more complex, every attempt is made to diagnose the issue within the bench fee price. Once diagnosed, the client will be contacted with an estimate for the remaining work.

The minimum bench fee does not imply all problems can be resolved. Tube amplifiers which have been modified or worked on previously can present their own set of challenges.
